Hello friends! I’m Joe Bechtold. I’ll begin with saying that I don’t really care too much for some of the “About Me” pages I see that are full of sales talk about the company or its products. I believe an “About Me” page should be just about me, and not sales jargon. So here goes…
I became a licensed Mortgage Loan Originator in 2020. My NMLS # is 2079403. I started in retail or direct lending for a couple of years. After that, I moved over to the broker side where there are many more options to offer.
Going back in time, in 2006 I founded and ran a service business for 14 years which I sold in 2020. In 2003 I also had founded a general contracting business building custom homes which ran out of gas after the 2008 slide in the economy hit. I struggled to keep it going for awhile after that but people simply stopped buying new homes so I focused on the service business that I also had. Prior to these businesses, I was a Project Manager for a commercial construction company completing numerous projects in and throughout Chicago.
Outside of work, for relaxation, I play guitar at times. I’ll look up some of the tunes that I know on YouTube and play along with them. But what I really enjoy is playing tennis. I play three times a week. I’m just a little bit competitive and playing tennis brings fulfillment to my competitiveness.
My wife Julie has been playing tennis recently and plays two or three times a week now herself. We got married in 1994 and love living in Wheaton, IL. I do most of the odd jobs and repairs around the house myself, carpentry, plumbing, electric, patching, painting, maintenance etc.
I even put this website together after purchasing a template to get started. I’m not afraid to tackle or at least try almost any job and honestly the competitive side of me gets frustrated if I find I cannot do something myself. Out in the yard, I cut the grass but Julie is the one with the green thumb. She wonderfully maintains all the nice flower beds around the house plus three bird feeders.
I try to live my life according to the bible and make a sincere effort to treat everyone with the respect and dignity they deserve.
We’ve had three different Labrador Retriever’s in the past and currently have an 8 yr. old Lab / Corgi mix. Kind of an odd mix but he’s a very sweet and well behaved “Rescue” dog. So now you’re caught up and you know…about me!
